Johnny Allen Gates, 64 of Paragould, formerly of Leachville, died Saturday, June 30, 2007, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born in Memphis, Tenn., he was the son of the late Harris and Mildred Hardin Gates and had been a longtime Leachville area resident before making his home in Paragould in 1996. He was employed by John Edwards Farms of Leachville and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Donna Haynes Gates; and a brother, James Gates.

Survivors include a son, Randy Allen Gates, of Paragould; two daughters, Tonya Lee Wilson of Leachville and Michelle Marie Beal of Paragould; five step-daughters, Linda Peyton of Paragould, Pat Powers of Cardwell, Mo., Teresa Clark of Paragould, Mary Young of Jonesboro, and Janet Stallings of Marmaduke; three brothers, Donald Gates and David Gates, both of Paragould, Allen Gates of Hot springs; a sister, Betty Howard of Paragould; 27 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today (Tuesday) in the Howard Funeral Chapel in Leachville with Rev. Rex Holt officiating. Burial will follow in the Leachville Cemetery. To sign the online guest register log on to www.howardfuneralservice.com.
