Jonesboro

Emma Francway Hanners, of Jonesboro, died Sunday morning, June 10, 2007, at the Craighead Nursing Center. Born in Forrest City, she had lived in Jonesboro since 1975, moving there from the Buckeye Community near Leachville. She was married in 1936 to Virgil J. Hanners, who preceded her in death. She was a farm wife and homemaker, co-owned a country store, Buckeye Store, with her husband in the late 1930s, and in her later years was a cosmetologist working throughout Northeast Arkansas.

As well as her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents, Will & Elizabeth Richardson Francway; and her brothers and sisters, Henry Francway, Robert Francway, Ernest Francway, John Francway, Delia Davidson, and Blanche Winberry.

She is survived by her son, Dr. Gary Hanners of Jonesboro and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 11, at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Dr. Alan Winberry officiating. Burial was in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Active pallbearers were Jack Cude, J.R. "Guy" Robinson, and Cliff Winberry.

Honorary pallbearers were Perry Cude, Dr. Ben Owens, Jr., John Denton, and Mrs. Billy Parish.
