Velma Loraine Thomson, 75, died at 7:44 a.m. Monday, April 2, 2007, in Elkhart General Hospital. She was born on Oct. 27, 1931, in Briggsville to Harvey and Ethyl (Knott) James. On March 15, 1987, in Elkhart, Ind., she married Walter B. Thomson who preceded her in death on May 5, 2005.

She is survived by two daughters, Brenda (Bob) Carson and Phyllis Robinson, both of South Bend, Ind.; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two sisters, Janie Stillwell of Hot Springs and Joyce Long of Brookville; and four brothers, Leroy (Dorthy) James of Mishawaka, Fletcher (Lena) James of Paris, Harvey Lee (Sylvia) James of Leachville, and Billy Joe (Faye) Raby of Miss.

She was preceded in death by four sisters, Evelyn James, Flore Mae, Christine, and Benny Ruth; and four brothers, Bobroy Cisco, Vernon, Orville and Clyde James.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend. Pastor Charles Johnston officiated. Burial was in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Notre Dame.
