Melbourne

Marie White Robertson, 94, of Melbourne died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007, at the Community Medical Center of Izard County. She was born on Sept. 4, 1912, to Rufus Tildon and Minnie Ann Shride White in Dalton. She married Homer M. Robertson on Jan. 1, 1930, and was married 59 years and 11 months before Mr. Robertson passed away in 1988. She was a homemaker, pastor's wife and a mother of five children. She was a member of the Melbourne First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, five brothers, Dailey White, Albert White, Doyle White, Ray White and Clifford White; a sister, Bessie Griffin Hetler; and a great-grandson Josiah James Fowler.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Doyne and Martha Robertson of Melbourne; four daughters and son-in-laws, Ruby and John Miller of Melbourne, Rebecca Roberson of El Dorado, Ruth and Raymon Carneal of Calico Rock and Rachell and Mike Mathis of Bartlett, Tenn.; two brothers, Paul White of Imboden and J.P. White of Silsbee, Texas; 12 grandchildren, David and wife, Janette Miller, Naomi Rush Roper, Stephen and wife, Alicia Robertson, all of Melbourne, Martha Miller Harriman of Little Rock, Christine and husband, Scott Street, of Duncan, Okla., Dana and husband, Donald Pyron, of Smackover, Leah and husband, Chris Friedman, of Mt. Vernon, Ind., Ray Carneal of Calico Rock, Robin and husband, Timothy Fowler of Lafayette, Ala., Phillip and wife, Jessica Mathis, of Tampa, Fla., Jeremy and wife, Bobbie Mathis, of Mesquite, Texas, Ben and wife, Kelly Mathis of Tyler, Texas; 24 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; also Mrs. Aubrey Walker (Lillian) of Gosnell, who lived with the Robertsons as a child.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. today (Tuesday) at the Melbourne First Baptist Church with Brother Ricky Burke, Brother Doyne Robertson and Brother Mike Mathis officiating. Interment will follow in the Melbourne Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Howard Funeral Home chapel in Melbourne.

Pallbearers will be David Miller, Jeremy Mathis, Ben Mathis, Ray Carneal, Stephen Robertson and Scott Street.
