Luxora

Dr. James Michael "Mike" Morris, 56, of Luxora died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007, in Muncie, Ind., following a long illness. Born March 6, 1950, in Blytheville to the late Samuel Augustus "Gus" Morris and Annie Lucille Terry Morris, Dr. Morris earned a B.S. degree in physics in 1972 and a masters degree in chemistry in 1974 at Arkansas State University. In 1984 he earned a medical degree at the University Health Science at Kansas City, Mo. Dr. Morris continued to practice medicine throughout Missouri and Mountain Home until his retirement.

Survivors include his mother, Annie Lucille Terry Morris; a daughter, Melanie Lyn Morris of Muncie, Ind.; two sons, James Michael Morris II of Brookline, Mo., and William Alexander Morris of Brookline, Mo; a sister, Linda Jean Bass of Desoto, Texas; two brothers, David Earl Morris and wife, Aleda, of Luxora and Owen Walker Morris of Luxora.

The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Luxora with Rev. Jackie Wood officiating. Burial was at Memorial Park Cemetery in Blytheville under the direction of Faith Funeral Service of Manila.
