Jonesboro

Gerald E. Sutterfield, 85, of Jonesboro died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2006, in NEA Medical Center. Born at Shirley, Mr. Suttterfield moved to Lake City early in life. He later lived in California before moving to Jonesboro in 1959.

He worked for General Motors at Southgate, Calif., and retired from General Electric in Jonesboro with 27 years of service.

Mr. Sutterfield was a member of Fisher Street united Methodist Church, was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Tassie Sutterfield; a sister, Josephine Gipson; and a brother, John Sutterfield.

Survivors include his wife, Marguerite Rogers Sutterfield of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Dianna Sutterfield of Jonesboro; daughter and son-in-law, Patti and Dan Cooper of Rogers; seven grandchildren, Drew Cooper of Louden, Tenn., Daniel Cooper of Knoxville, Tenn., Tony Sutterfield of Nicholasville, Ky., Kris Sharp, Angie Hotop, David Sutterfield and Jamie Hill, all of Jonesboro; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, O.A. Sutterfield of Riverside, Calif., and Glenn Sutterfield of Bellflower, Calif.

A graveside funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Oaklawn Cemetery with Bob Blackwood officiating.
