Wilson

Delmar Herbert Gillett, 88, of Wilson, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2006, at Osceola Healthcare in Osceola. Born Oct. 9, 1918, in Brownsville, Texas, the son of John and Myrtle Turner Gillett, he was a longtime resident of Wilson, a farmer and a member of Dyess Central Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Mahan Gillett, of the home; three children, Ann Williams of Manila, Pat Sullins and her husband, Louis, of Meridian, Miss., and Gary "Butch" Gillett and his wife, Derinda, of Dyess; a brother, Gene Gillett of Steele, Mo.; three sisters, Lillian Shawell of Hemet, Calif., Wanda Wiggins of Henderson, Nev., and Ruby Marcial of Edenburg, Ariz.; and eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Dyess Central Baptist Church in Dyess. Rev. Mike Gonzales officiated. Entombment followed in the Dogwood Mausoleum in Blytheville.
