Jonesboro

Margaret Elizabeth Powell, 85, of Jonesboro died Friday, Dec. 15, 2006, at her home. Born in Joiner, Mrs. Powell lived in Black Oak before moving to Jonesboro in 1959. She was a retired library clerk at Annie Camp Junior High School and a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, where she was a member of United Methodist Women.

Mrs. Powell was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and was preceded in death by her husband, Eddy Powell; two grandsons, Brent Powell and Shane Powell; a sister, Sara Rodgers; and two brothers, Dr. Sam Willis and Gene Willis.

Survivors include two daughters, Anita Murray of Jonesboro and Mary Beth Powell of Southaven, Miss.; two sons, Buddy Powell of Jonesboro and Mike Powell of Tampa, Fla.; a sister Kathryn Willis of Jonesboro; four grandchildren, Sean Powell of Irvine, Calif., Amber Bingham, Candice Murray and Grant Murray, all of Jonesboro; and six great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today (Tuesday) in Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro with Rev. John Soward officiating. Burial will be in Jonesboro Memorial Park. To sign the online registry, log on to www.emersonfuneralhome.com.
