Dr. E.A. Shaneyfelt, 77, longtime Manila physician, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born at Leachville he was the son of the late Eugene Lloyd and Pauline Edwards Shaneyfelt and was a 1947 graduate of Osceola High School. He was a graduate of Hendrix College and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, and served his residency at St. Vincents Infirmary in Little Rock. He was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, a great-granddaugther, and a brother.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Bell Shaneyfelt, of the home; a son, Gene Shaneyfelt of Pickneyville, Ill.; four daughters, Paula Spencer of Austin, Texas, Geneabeth "Bug" Shaneyfelt of Manila, Cindy Holiman of Jonesboro, and Shing Hall of Cave City; a brother, Dr. James L. Shaneyfelt of Kennett, Mo.; a sister, Barbara Satterfield of Little Rock; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Manila First United Methodist Church with Rev. Craig Russell officiating. Burial was in the Manila Cemetery under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Manila.
