Cuba, Mo.

Thomas Elmo Stephens, 83, of Cuba, Mo., formerly of Leachville, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2006, at Sullivan Baptist Hospital at Sullivan, Mo.

Born at Monette, he was the son of the late Thomas Jefferson and Hattie Virginia Byrns Stephens and had been a resident of Cuba for the last 13 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and was a retired service engineer. He was a member of Delhi Baptist Church and a Mason.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Gist Stephens of the home; two sons, Thomas J. Stephens of Cuba, Mo., Douglas Stephens of Cuba, Mo.; three daughters, Cheryl Broderick of Desoto, Mo., Karen Boudouris of Greenville, Ill., and Cathy Borovac of Weeping Water, Neb.; four sisters, Pearl Howell and Billie Shook, both of Paragould; Maxine Hinson of Jonesboro; and Joan Roush of Columbia, Ill.; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral was at 11 a.m. Saturday at Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Rev. William Piercy officiating. Burial was in the Cardwell Cemetery.
