Clurman Strickland Jr., 73, died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2006, at his home. Born Aug. 10, 1933, in Union, Miss., he was a carpenter and a farmer. He was a member of the Church of Lord Jess Christ at Carrolls Corner.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Strickland; six daughters, Virginia Smith, Ann McMillan, Robin Cantrell, all of Yazoo City, Miss., Diane Wilbanks of Conway, Janet Wilbanks of Manila and Polly Sheppard of Etowah; three sons, Billy Ray Strickland and John Strickland, both of Yazoo City, and Clurman Strickland III of Osceola; a sister, Lidian Talbert of Hickory, Miss.; three brothers, Howard Watkins, Bill Watkins and Clyde Watkins, all of Morton, Miss.; 23 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

Services were 11 a.m. Saturday in the Church of Lord Jesus Christ at Carrolls Corner and burial was in Garden Point Cemetery at Etowah under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home of Osceola.
