Charles Stephen "Steve' Jolliff, 58, of Slidell, La., formerly of Manila, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2006, at his home. Born at Orange, N.J., he was the son of the late Dan B. Jolliff and grandson of the late Julia Cruise, W.W. Fowler Sr., Minnie Jane Short and Charles Jolliff Sr.

He was raised in the Etowah area of Manila and St. Louis. He had lived in Slidell since 1982 and was regional operations director for RPM Pizza LLC. He was married for 33 years to Marsha Glasgow Jolliff.

As a young man, Mr. Jolliff was an excellent athlete and student. He attended grade school in St. Louis and high school in Collinsville, Ill. He was continually a member of the honor society and played all sports in high school. He excelled in baseball and was regarded as one of the best third basemen in the St. Louis area.

He attended The University of Missouri, where he was involved with student government. He was a political science major. He was elected vice president of the association and was inducted into the secret honor society, "EBH."

Mr. Jolliff transferred to the University of Arkansas to complete his college degree.

After graduation he entered law school at the University of Arkansas. He was in the food business over 36 years.

Mr. Jolliff was active for nine years with the Leukemia Society in New Orleans, where he and other team members supported the "Breakfast with the Champions" each year.

He is survived by his wife, Marsha Glasgow Jolliff of the home; two daughters, Brandy Rae Jolliff of London, England, and Whitney Kae Jolliff of Slidell; his mother, Dorothy Jeane Fowler Jolliff of Baton Rouge, La.; and his brother, Robert "Rob" Jolliff of St. Francisville, La.

The funeral was held at 1 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Manila with Rev. Ferrel Duffel officiating. Burial was in the Manila Cemetery under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Manila.

Pallbearers were Aric Keller, Chris Jolliff, Dan Jolliff, Kent Jolliff, Ryan Dunlap and Peter Germonpre.

A memorial service in Slidell will be announced at a later date.
