Cecil Austin Tate - Jonesboro

Cecil Austin Tate of Jonesboro died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006.

He was born Sept. 19, 1934. He was a retired farmer, as well as a tool and die maker at Colson Caster Company. He resided in the Cash-Egypt Community until he retired from farming. He was a member of the First Assembly of God in Jonesboro, as well as the pacesetter adult class.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Alice Tate; three brothers, Vernie, F.A. and Dale; and a sister, Mazelle Hendricks.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Bernice; a daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Dennis Robins of Collierville, Tenn.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Rick and Stacy Tate of Jonesboro and Cameron and Lana Tate of Lake City; six grandchildren, Amanda Poe of Memphis, Christian Emerson, Brandon Doty, Hannah Tate, all of Jonesboro, and Chandler and Camden Tate of Lake City; his great-granddaughter, Jocelyn Emerson; three sisters, Maxine Durham of Liberty, Mo., Genevieve McCasland of Bono and Charlene Jumper of Cordova, Tenn.; four brothers, Coy Tate of Fort Wayne, Ind., Leo Tate, Kenny Williams and Dexter Tate, all of Bono.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. today (Tuesday) at Roller-Farmers Union Chapel with Mike Glover officiating. Burial will follow in Markum Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mitchell Durham, David Jones, Chris Jumper, Shawn McCasland, Steven Saffell and Brett Smith.

Honorary pallbearers will be J.R. Fetters, Al Laird, Dewayne Martin, Don Saffell, Billy Weaver and Jerry Riggs.
