Willis Merideth Herndon - Humboldt, Tenn.

A graveside service for Willis Merideth Herndon, 66, was held at 2 p.m. Sunday at New Salem Cemetery at Mason Hall with Rev. Terry W. Wilson officiating.

Mr. Herndon died Friday, Aug. 11, 2006, in the Tennessee State Veterans Home in Humboldt, Tenn. He was born in Memphis, the son of Regina Smith Herndon and the late Willis H. Herndon, and received his education in the Leachville schools, and Western Kentucky College. He was a U.S. Army Veteran.

He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Humboldt.

He was preceded in death by a son, Marty Shane Herndon, and his father, Willis H. Herndon.

Survivors include his mother, Regina Smith Herndon of Linden, Tenn.; his brother, Fred Herndon and wife, Helga, of Jackson; his children, Marci Smith and husband, Darren, of Cleveland, Ohio, Jodi Graham and husband, Phillip, of Rocky Face, Ga., and Alvin Herndon of Pulaski, Tenn.; and five grandchildren.

Arrangements were under the direction of Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home.
