Amelia Castillo Zabala - Manila

Amelia Castillo Zabala, 89, of Manila died July 30, 2006, at Manila Nursing Center in Manila. She was a homemaker and a Christian. She was born in Austin, Texas, on Sept. 4, 1916, and raised in McAlester, Okla., moving to California in 1929. She had lived most of her life in Pico Rivera, Calif., before moving to Nipomo, Calif. She moved to Manila in 2004. Her husband of 66 years, Locadio R. Zabala, died Oct. 26, 2003.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Pasqual and Bea Zabala of Pico Rivera, Calif., and Leo and Marieta Zabala, of Whittier, Calif; three daughters and a son-in-law, Paula Browne of Nipoma, Calif., Jo Anguiano of Apple Valley, Calif., and Yvonne and Frank Hernandez of Manila; 23 grandchildren, Robert and Bonnie Anguiano, Daniel and Rose Anguiano, Lisa and Frank Navarro, Vivian Anguiano, Paul and Laura Zabala, Steve and Daisy Zabala, Darlene Zabala, Arlene and John Mena, Dolores and Caesar Mercado, Amy and Gene Manzanares, Carmen Green, Joseph and Christina Hernandez, Leo Zabala, Jr., Raul Zabala; 25 great-grandchildren and 15-great-great-grandchildren and she loved them all.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Amanda and Amanda S.; a son-in-law, Jerry Browne, and two great-grandsons, Jace and Frank.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, at New Providence Baptist Church in Buckeye with Brother Danny Smith officiating.
