Margrett Abernathy - Caraway

Margrett Abernathy, 86, of Caraway died Friday, May 26, 2006, at the NEA Medical Center in Jonesboro.

She was retired from the American Greetings Corp. in Osceola. She was born in Missouri to Thomas and Vertie Collier. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Caraway and the T.E.L. Sunday school Class.

She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Orlan and Molly Abernathy of West Memphis and Glynn and Ann Abernathy of Byhalia, Miss.; two daughters and son-in-law, Shirley and Jerry Murphy and Dianne Couch, both of Caraway; a brother, Bud Collier of Caraway; four sisters, Vivian Sharp and Lenna Fay Collier, both of Caraway, Zella Williams of Bono, Velda "Sis" Mann of Paragould; nine grandchildren, Lloyd Abernathy, Junior Abernathy, Chuck Leonard, Marty Abernathy, Joey Henry, Jerry Wayne Murphy, Christy Hill, Jennifer Smith, and Angie Davis; and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tran Abernathy; a daughter, Katrina Henry; parents, Thomas and Vertie Collier; a brother, Thomas Collier; two sisters, Clara Barrett and Zenolia Collier.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Caraway with T.B. Smith and Nathan Primm officiating. Burial was in the Nettleton Cemetery with Langford-Bookout Funeral Home of Jonesboro in charge.

Active pallbearers were Mike Hill, Jeff Davis, Anthony Smith, Chuck, Leonard, Robert Adcock, Lloyd Abernathy, and Joey Henry. The T.E.L. Sunday school Class served as honorary pallbearers.
