Robert Coy Shuemake, 82, of Benton Harbor, Mich., formerly of Monette, died Saturday, April 29, 2006, at Caratel Inn in St. Joseph. Born in Enolia to James and Laura (Roland) Shuemake, he had lived in the Benton Harbor community since 1950. As a young man, he was a farmer. He became employed with Auto Specialties at the St. Joseph and Benton Harbor plants for 30 years, and was a train engineer for the local House of David. In his retirement, he returned to farming and agricultural work.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Bill Heyn of Stevensville, Mich.; two grandchildren, Holly Hentz and husband, Jude, and Anthony Heyn and wife, Karla; one great-grandchild, Hailey Hentz, all of St. Joseph, Mich.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Roy Shuemake and Doy Lee Shuemake; and two sisters, Lola Taylor and Madean Wells.

A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Friday at Macey Cemetery in Monette with Rev. William Piercy officiating. Gregg Funeral Home of Monette was in charge of arrangements.
