Randy Brooks Rakestraw - Manila

Randy Brooks Rakestraw, 45, of Manila died Friday, Jan. 13, 2006, at Great River Medical Center in Blytheville. Born at Blytheville, he was the son of the late William Rakestraw and had lived most of his life in the Manila area. He attended Arkansas Children's Colony in Conway.

Survivors include his mother, Eva Rakestraw, of Manila; his brother and sister-in-law, Ron and Kim Rakestraw, of Lake City; two brothers-in-law, Tom Despain of Manila and James "Bub" Platz, Jr. of Lake City; a niece, Payton Brady, and a nephew, Devon Brady, both of Lake City.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Tammy Despain, in 1996, his paternal grandparents, Virgil and Nanny Rakestraw, and his maternal grandparents, Leonard and Mattie Phillips.

A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Manila Cemetery with Rev. William Piercy officiating. Burial was under the direction of Howard Funeral service of Manila.
