Velma Inez Hayse - Brookland

Velma Inez Hayse, 81, of Brookland died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born in Cushman, she grew up in the Lepanto and Marked Tree area. She was a sales clerk for Sterling's and Magic Mart and later a caregiver for the elderly. She was of the Pentecostal faith.

Survivors include five sisters, Bobbie Pankey and Thelma Phillips, both of Brookland, Helen McVay of Memphis, Betty Spangler of Shirley, Ind., and Portia Wood of Lake City; and two brothers, Raymond Hayse of Marked Tree and Sam Hayse of Brookland.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Florence Sims Hayse.

The funeral was held at 1 p.m. Friday at Roller-Farmers Union chapel. Burial was at Potter's Cemetery in Lepanto.
