Martha Martin - Lake City

Martha Frances Martin, 91, of Lake City died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2005, at NEA Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born in Lake City, she lived in Detroit for 56 years before moving back to Lake City. She was a Baptist and a retired factory worker.

Survivors include three nieces, Martha Lee Surber, Mary Fances Shirley and Kristin Shirley, all of Lake City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John L. and Mary Phillips Lewis; two sisters; and a brother.

The funeral was held at 3 p.m. Friday at Gregg Funeral Home with Rev. Clarence Cornish officiating. Burial was in the Bowman Cemetery near Lake City.

Active pallbearers were Joe Hill, Bill Slawson, Sam Lee, Arvis Shirley and Ernest Coleman.
