Charlene D. Smiley - Vicksburg, Miss.

Charlene D. Smiley, 81, of Vicksburg, Miss., died May 20, 2005, at Vicksburg Convalescent Home in Vicksburg.

She was born April 1, 1924, in Izard County. She was a certified nursing assistant at the Martha Coker Convalescent Home and of the Baptist belief.

She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Norsey of Vicksburg, Miss., and Shelia Harthcock of Yazoo City; a sister, Betty Janvier of Linder, J.J.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Elwood Smiley, and a son, Roger Dale Smiley.

The funeral was held at 11 a.m. May 23 at Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service will be held today (Tuesday) at 1 p.m. at the Leachville Cemetery with Rev. Bud Dixon officiating.
