Thelma Viola McMasters - Manila

Thelma Viola McMasters, 92, of Manila, widow of Ed McMasters, died Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at St. Francis Hospital in cape Girardeau, Mo.

Born at Manila, she was the daughter of early Manila settlers, Frank and Rosa Bell Ashabranner Dudley, and was a lifelong Manila resident. She and her late husband owned and operated McMasters Grocery in Manila for many years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and Manila Business Women's Club.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen and Bob Barthlomew of Cape Girardeau and Patricia and Jake Kirkland of Wichita, Kan.; two sisters, Grace Bridges of Manila and Beatrice Perkins of Catron, Mo., eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Manila with Rev. Craig Russell officiating. Burial was in the Manila Cemetery under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Manila.
