Imogene Copeland - Monette

Imogene Copeland, 81, of Monette, died March 4, 2005, at Lakeside Nursing Center in Lake City.

She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She was born in Monette on Feb. 9, 1924, and lived in the Monette and Brookland area a lifetime.

She is survived by two sisters, Willean Manis, of Kansas City, Mo., and Opaline Smothers of Lake City; a brother, P.D. Wallace, of Cherokee Village; three sons, Sam Copeland, Gary Copeland, and Vick Copeland, all of Jonesboro; a daughter, Joella Taylor, of Cisco, Texas; seven grandchildren, Danny Copeland of Brookland, Derek Copeland, Shelly Pate, Dana Copeland, Shane Copeland, all of Jonesboro, Donna Davis of Lufkin, Texas, and Teresa Boyd of Cisco, Texas; six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, G.W. Copeland, her father and mother, Tom and Gertie Wallace, a brother, R.C. Wallace, and two sisters, Juanita Akins and Geneva Chambers.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. today (Tuesday) at Monette Cemetery with Rev. Clarence Cornish officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Monette.
