Frieda Layman, 80, of Aurora, Ill., died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2006, at Rush-Copley Medical Center. She was born Feb. 8, 1924, in Pocahontas. She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Inez (Wells) Endicott. She married her high school sweetheart, Ralph E. Layman, in Arkansas. She was a Chicago Cubs fan and watched every game with her husband by her side. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who enjoyed the visits from her family.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Ralph Eugene Layman, of Aurora, Ill.; daughter, Shirley Bailey, of Aurora, Ill.; son, Ralph Layman of Yorkville, Ill.; daughter Ramona Schindelheim of New York, N.Y.; daughter, Laurie Bartlett of Aurora, Ill.; son Rick Layman of Woodland Park, Col.; daughter, Carolyn Leavy of Carpentersville, Ill.; sister, Annie Pierce of West Palm Beach, Fla.; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, J.W. Endicott and Everett Endicott, and a grandson, David Christopher Bartlett.

The funeral was held Friday at 1 p.m. at the Healy Chapel, 370 Division Drive, Sugar Grove. Pastor Dennis Cocks officiating. Interment was at River Hills Memorial Park.
