Gladys Barber - Monette

Gladys Barber, 88, of Monette, formerly of Dyess, died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Born at Mount Ida, she was a homemaker and a member of the Dyess Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include five sons, Robert Barber of Leachville, Loyd Barber and Terry Barber, both of Gosnell, Don Barber of Lepanto and Leo Barber of Turrell; four daughters, Norma Thurman of Memphis, Sharon Wilkey of Salem, Carolyn Wells of Texarkana, Texas, and Connie Nicholas of Keiser; 27 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Jefferson Barber; two sons, Bruce Wayne Barber and Alan McCullar; her parents, Orion and Vera Scott; three brothers and a granddaughter.

The funeral was held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Dyess Assembly of God with Rev. Brian Riles officiating. Burial was in Bassett Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Swift Funeral Home in Osceola.

Active pallbearers were Mike McCullar, Mark Turman, Mitch Wilkey, Jeff Fite, Jason Barber, Chris Barber, Robert Wayne Barber, Albert McCullar and Randy McCullar.
