Matthew Daniel Qualls - Jonesboro

Matthew Daniel Qualls, 13, of Jonesboro died Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at Jonesboro. He was born at Jonesboro and had lived there for three years, formerly of Lake City. He was a Baptist and a seventh grade student at Valley View Junior High School. He was a member of the Jonesboro baseball 13 year old Prep League.

He is survived by his father and stepmother, Danny and Elisabeth Milligan Qualls of the home; his mother, Beth James Qualls of Twin Lakes, Wis.; paternal grandmother, Della Qualls of Black Oak; maternal grandfather, W.R. James of Vaundale; a sister, April Qualls of Twin Lakes, Wis.; three brothers, Terry, Gage and Jacob Qualls, all of the home; a stepsister, Madallyn Puckett of the home; a stepbrother, Kolten Puckett of the home; an uncle, Jeff Qualls of Monette; three aunts, Tammy Wheeler of Black Oak, Karen Lowe of Millington, Tenn., and Kathy James of Vaundale.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Robert D. Qualls, and maternal grandmother, Josephine James.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 6, at Valley View High School Gymnasium with Mearl Henry; Valley View Intermediate Principal Dr. Sharon Taylor; and Junior High Principal Bryan Russell officiating. Burial was in Monette Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Active pallbearers were Jerry "Chub" Qualls, Terry Lee Qualls, Ted Qualls, Kirk Qualls, Elbert Qualls, Boyce Qualls, Sr., Johnny Van Jones and Tony Hickman. Honorary pallbearers were members of the seventh grade class at Valley View Junior High School.
