Willis Leonard Bunch - Newark

Willis Leonard Bunch, 85, of Newark died Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at White River Medical Center in Batesville. Born at Gurdon, he was a retired Southern Baptist minister and schoolteacher. He taught at Mount Pleasant and Cave City and was superintendent of schools at Strawberry. He had been a minister at Caraway, Humphrey, Rehobeth at Moorefield, Eastside Southern Baptist Church in Cave City and Rosie Baptist Church. He was a member of the Newark Southern Baptist Church where he taught the men's Sunday school class for several years.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Bunch of the home; four sons, W.L. Bunch, Jr. of Trenton, S.C., Finis Bunch of Cord, Wayne Bunch of Newark and Rick Bunch of Batesville; a daughter, Leona Hinkley of Lajunta, Colo.; two brothers, Carl Bunch of Jonesboro and Roy Bunch of Murphreesboro, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Newark Southern Baptist Church with Jim Black officiating. Burial was in the Blue Springs Cemetery in Newark under the direction of Qualls Batesville Funeral Service.
