Walter A. Skinner - Brookland

Walter A. Skinner, 77, of Brookland died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born in Leachville, he had lived in the Buckeye community before moving to Brookland in 1963. A farmer, he operated a vegetable stand in Brookland, operated Skinner's Auction in Brookland and was a Baptist.

Survivors include three sons, John Andrew Skinner of Bay, Glenn Dale Skinner of Jonesboro and Bobby Wayne Skinner of Atlanta, Texas; four sisters, Linda Brown and Faye Rece, both of Jonesboro, and Charlene Slatton and Anne Talant, both of Loves Park, Ill.; three brothers, John Skinner of Jonesboro and Robert Skinner and Joe Skinner, both of Edgewater, Fla.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Florence McCauley Skinner, one sister and one brother.

A graveside service was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Pine Log Cemetery near Brookland with Rev. Donnie Jones officiating. Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Joe Johnson, Kevin Chester, Rick Story, Dale McGee, Darrell Dawson, Duane Harvey, David Head and Ronnie Wall.
