Anita M. Cornish - Monette

Anita M. Cornish, 87, of Monette, died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003, at Beverly Health Care in Jonesboro. She was retired from Arkansas University, a member of Mt. Pleasant General Baptist Church and had lived most of her life in the Monette area.

She is survived by three sisters, Ahler Miller of Modesto, Calif., Evelyn Erway of Harbor, Oreg., and Nathalie Zumwalt of Harbor, Oreg. Three sons, Ronald Cornish and his wife, Janet, of Horn Lake, Miss., Victor Cornish and his wife, Jane, of Lepanto, and Dennis Cornish and his wife Marilyn of Alexander; two son-in-laws, Norman Taylor of Maynard, and Jerry Taylor of Lake Wales, Fla.; two daughters, Louise Dawson of Springfield, Mo., and Karen Woods and husband, James, of Lewisville, Texas; 13 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by father and mother, Wilson and Margaret Cox; her step-father, Nathan Langston, and her husband, Claud Cornish, a son, James Edmond Cornish, two daughters, Claudette Taylor, and Margie Taylor Pitts; four sisters, Gwendolyn Cox, Ruby Jarrett, Velma Lamb, Kathleen Thomas, a son-in-law, Clarence Dawson Jr.; one grandson, David Taylor and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held a 1 p.m. Sunday at the Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Monette with James Wood officiating. Burial was in the Monette Cemetery with Gregg Funeral Home of Monette.

Grandsons served as pallbearers.
