Billy Charles Nettles - Alicia

Billy Charles Nettles, 68, of Alicia, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Walnut Ridge. He was born Feb. 12, 1935, in Boydsville. He was the son of Price and Grace Herring Nettles. He married Shirley Clements Oct. 13, 1956, in Piggott. He was employed by Lawrence County Tractor and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Nettles of the home; two sons, Charles and Dale Nettles of Alicia; three brothers, James Nettles of Illinois, Aubry Nettles of Aldrich, Mo., and Gene Nettles of Tulsa, Okla.; four sisters, Mary Johnston and Dorothy Grubbs, both of Springfield, Mo., Janet Lambert of Manila, and Pat Ethridge of Union City, Tenn.; and six grandchildren, Christina, Valerie, Jennifer, Brian, Brandon and Noah Nettles, all of Alicia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Shirley Marie Nettles, a granddaughter, Kimberley Nettles, and a great-grandson, Aaron Nettles.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Higginbotham Chapel in Walnut Ridge with Scott Williams officiating. Burial was in Strangers Home Cemetery in Alicia.

Pallbearers were Joe Turner, Jim Tedder, Clint Robinnson, Ted Grissom and Dwayne Robinson.

Arrangements were under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service, Inc. of Walnut Ridge.
