Vera Lois Phillips - Manila

Vera Lois Phillips, 90, of Manila, the widow of Toy Luther Phillips, died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2003, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born at Rice, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Zula Johnson Shue and had been a Manila resident since 1949. She was a homemaker and member of the First Baptist Church in Manila.

Survivors include a son, Toy Earl Phillips of Joplin, Mo.; a brother, Rufus Shue of Quitman; a sister, Lavada Powell of Heber Springs, and four grandsons, Randy Phillips, Ricky Ketchum, Joseph Phillips and David Phillips; one great-grandson, J.J. Phillips, and 11 step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Lonnie Phillips and her daughter, Billie Jean Ketchum.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Friday at Howard Funeral Chapel in Manila wit Rev. Ferrell Duffel officiating. Burial was in the Manila Cemetery.
