Jack Moore - Jonesboro

Jack Moore, 64, of Jonesboro died Monday, July 14, 2003, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was the coach of the All-American Redheads Women's Basketball Team for 10 years and was named to the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame. He was active in the development of the Valley View boys baseball team and the summer baseball program and the Valley View baseball field was named in his honor. He was a charter member of the Valley View Booster Club and coached girls volleyball, girls basketball, boys baseball and T-ball at Valley View.

He is survived by his wife, Bettye Moore of Jonesboro; a son, Travis Moore of Jonesboro; a daughter, Becky Poe of Jonesboro; a brother, Orwell Moore of Caraway; three sisters, Maxine Corbett of Tampa, Fla., Anna Pearl Roberts of Jonesboro and Marjorie Pittman of Caraway; and two grandchildren, Molly Beth Poe and Jeremy Poe, both of Jonesboro.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.S. and Maude Moore, and a brother.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Friday at Southwest Church of Christ with Merle Henry officiating. Burial was in McDaniel Cemetery under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Active pallbearers were Kent Roberts, Aaron Burke, Shannon Tucker, Michael Anderson, Dickie Roberts, Kevin Mullins, Keith Mullins, Jeremy Roberts, McClain Mullins, Bob Pittman and Randy McPhearson.

Honorary pallbearers were Harold Lamb, Lomer Turney, Bob Ryan, John Sanders, Ed Weaver, Larry Cain, Tucker Housley, Pat Chitmon, Paul Veteto, Alan Pemberton, Garreth James, Jim Vinson, Jimmy Shockley, Mike Mangrum, Barry Parish, Joe Hendrix, Jim Turney, Kagle Huff, Paul Pickle, Benny Tolbert and Ken Stewart.
