Vester Hershel Patton - Buckeye

Vester Hershel Patton, 85, of the Buckeye community, near Leachville, died Saturday, June 21, 2003, at his home. Born at Senath, he was the son of the late John and May Wafford Patton and was a lifelong resident of the Leachville area. Mr. Patton was a longtime farmer and also retired from Brown Shoe Company in Leachville with 24 years of service. He was a member of Calvary Full Gospel Church in Cardwell.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Myracle Patton of the home; two sons, William Patton of Versailles, Mo., and Franklin Patton of Leachville; two daughters, Alice Hodges of Leachville and Linda Drury of Tupelo, Miss.; 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Henry Patton; five sisters, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary Full Gospel Church in Cardwell with Rev. Leland Dement officiating. Burial will follow in the Leachville Cemetery under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Leachville.

The family will receive visitors this evening (Tuesday) from 6 until 8:30 p.m.

Active pallbearers are Danny Robbins, Danny Ford, Bud Rauls, Eric Kisner, Charlie Purcell and J.W. Carder.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Boss, Wayne Dement, Floyd Brandon, Don Boss, Raymond Baldridge and Kevin Lexton.
