Alvia Moore - Hot Springs

Alvia "Al" Moore, 82, of Hot Springs, died Sunday, June 15, 2003, at his residence in Hot Springs. He was a former Leachville resident. He was born Nov. 7, 1920, in Black Rock, to Oscar James and Ada Myrtle (Smith) Moore.

Al was a retired U.S. Air Force, World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War Veteran, owner of the former Pike Cafeteria, present owner of Spa Universal Sales and a member of Piney Grove United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Maxine Moore of Hot Springs; two daughters and sons-in-law, Toni and Roy Allen of Sherman, Texas, and Gina and Rodney Howeth of Texarkana, Texas; one daughter-in-law, Trang Moore of Henderson, Nev.; two grandchildren, Heather Allen of Sherman, Texas, and Jim Moore o Henderson, Nev.; three sisters, Marie Kennett of Leachville, Jean Thompson of Tucson, Ariz., and Dorothy Brynjolfson of Apple Valley, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Alvia (Bill) Moore II, and three sisters, Lucille Pickens, Irene Mitchell and Betty Simmons.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, at Piney Grove United Methodist Church with Dr. Randy Rowlan and Rev. Larry Ferguson officiating.

The family requests anyone wishing to leave a lasting memorial consider the Pine Grove United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.

Cremation was under the direction of Caruth-Hale Funeral Home.
