Ruth Nettie Grooms - Paragould

Ruth Nettie Grooms, 75, of Paragould died Saturday, June 21, 2003, at her home. She was born Jan. 8, 1928, in Craighead County. She was a retired custodian of Greene County Tech School where she had worked for 16 years. She was a member of the First Assembly of God and served as a Sunday School teacher for 35 years.

Survivors include her mother, Gracie Pearl Grooms of Leachville; her husband, Robert Grooms of Paragould; a son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Deloris Grooms; a foster daughter, Ruby Morgan of Booneville; three brothers, Gaylon Pierce of Lake City, William Piercy of Monette and Layman Piercy of West Helena; a sister, Jewell Ann Rolland of Leachville; three grandchildren and several step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Edgar Piercy; a brother, Rufus Piercy; a sister, Billie Fern Piercy and a granddaughter, Mona Grooms.

The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. today (Tuesday), at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Paragould with Rev. Mark Smith officiating. Burial will be at Greene county Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
