Richard Douglas - Manila

Richard Vernon Douglas, 87, of Manila died Friday, April 25, 2003, at the Monette Manor Nursing Center. Born at Manila, he was the son of the late Noah and Ethel Douglas and was a retired farmer. He was a lifelong Manila resident and had worked several years at the Manila Ice House. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Manila.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gala Woolard Douglas; a son, Vernon Robert Douglas, and a sister, Nora Nagel.

Survivors include a son, Carroll Douglas of Manila; two daughters, Joyce Jones of Aurora, Ill., and Joan McMinn of Paragould; a sister, Ollie Stewart of Fenton, Mo.; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services were 2 p.m. Monday at the Howard Funeral Chapel in Manila, Rev. Ray Dill officiating. Burial was in Manila Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Larry "Boo" Dodd, Tinker Hutton, Jeff Hutton, Stacy Henry, John Baker and M.H. Walker.
