Hubert Walter Akins - Paragould

Hubert Walter Akins, 78, of Paragould, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. He was born in Lake City and a retired factory worker with General Motors. He was a member of Oak grove Baptist Church and the Local No. 599 of the United Auto Workers.

Survivors include his wife, Voneeda Maxine Akins of the home; a son, Kenney Lee Phillips of Paragould; and two grandchildren, Amanda Elaine Phillips and Miranda Lee Phillips, both of Paragould

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charley and Mollie Akins.

A graveside service was held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Salem Cemetery at Boydsville with Rev. Bill Dowdy officiating under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould.
