David Odell Toombs - Caraway

David Odell Toombs, 77, of Caraway died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, at his residence. He was born at Leachville and had lived most of his life at Caraway. He was a Baptist. He was retired from the Craighead County Road Department.

He is survived by his wife, Claudine Toombs, of the home; three sons, James Toombs of Mountain View, Gary Toombs and Larry Toombs, both of Caraway; two daughters, Sharon Fletcher and Pearlene Moyer, both of Caraway; 10 grandchildren, David Toombs, Micheal Toombs, Aaron Moyer, Cindy Jeffers, Shannon Kelems, Jason Kelems, Christopher Kelems, Kevin Moyer, Shawn Moyer, Scott Toombs, and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Deloris Dunkerson, and a brother, Floyd Toombs.

The funeral was held at 10 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Caraway with Rev. Rick Stevens officiating. Burial was in the Caraway Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Monette.

Pallbearers were grandchildren: Shannon Kelems, Jason Kelems, Christopher Kelems, Kevin Moyer, Shawn Moyer, Scott Toombs, David Toombs, Michael Toombs, Aaron Moyer and Cindy Jeffers.

Honorary pallbearers were C.W. Hinton, Wayne Fletcher, Terry Couch and Earnest Banton.
