Dixie Faye Killian Coulter Johnson - Nashville

Dixie Faye Killian Coulter Johnson, 68, of Nashville died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002. Born Feb. 17, 1934, in Kennett, she was the daughter of Hazel Fleeman Killian and Robert William Killian. She grew up in Manila and graduated from high school in Blytheville in 1951. She attended Stephens College in Columbia, Mo., and received a bachelor of science in engineering degree form the University of Arkansas in 1955. She married Don Coulter of Nashville in November 1955 and they were married for 28 years.

A resident of Nashville since 1959, she was active in the Nashville Junior Auxiliary and other community organizations. She was an elementary school teacher, teaching in Florida and Tennessee while her husband was in the Navy and in Nashville Public schools for a number of years. She volunteered as a literacy tutor for the Howard County Literacy Council. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Nashville and the Trinity Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the church's Chancel Choir.

She is survived by three sons, Nate Coulter and John Coulter, both of Little Rock and Rob Coulter of Nashville; six grandchildren, Amber Coulter of Russellville, Arin Coulter and Robert Coulter, both of Nashville; and Caroline Coulter, Nathan Coulter and Tom Coulter, all of Little Rock.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Bobbye J. Killian; and her husband, Andrew Johnson, in 1995.

The funeral was held at 3 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church in Nashville under the direction of Latimeer Funeral Home of Nashville. Rev. Jim Polk officiated. Burial was in Restland Memorial Park.
