Odell Burnside - Lake City

Odell Burnnside, 79, of Lake City, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, at the Regional Medical Center of Northeast Arkansas. He was born in Cash and had lived in Earle before moving to Lake City in 1963. He was retired from Craighead Electric where he worked as a service lineman. After his retirement, he owned and operated the Burnside Fertilizer Company in Lake City. He was a member of the Lake City Masonic Lodge and the VFW. He was previously involved in the Jaycees in both Earle and Lake City. While living in Earle, he was a volunteer fireman, an auxiliary policeman, and was active in the Boy Scouts. He was also a U.S. Army World War II veteran.

He is survived by a son, Michael Burnside of Lake City; a daughter, Karen Reichle, of DeSoto, Texas; six brothers, Boyce Burnside of Rosedale, Miss., Leroy Burnside of Swifton, Glen Burnside of Indianapolis, Ind., Billy Burnside of Indianapolis, Ind., Larry McKee of Jonesboro, and Ken McKee of Jacksonville; a sister, Oneida Hallmark of Cash, four grandchildren, Michelle Donaldson, Albert Burnside, Clayton Burnside, and McNeil Burnside; two great-grandchildren, Taylor Donaldson and Will Donaldson.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Burnside, a son, Wendell Burnside, two sisters and a brother.

A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Pine Log Cemetery with Rev. Ken Stallings officiating. Burial was under the direction of the Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Honorary pallbearers were Freddy Carroll Payne, Roland Cobb, Larry Nall, Bob Ridge, Maurice Adams, and Steve Adams.
