Harold F. Timms - Lake City

Harold F. Timms, 76, of Lake City, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at Regional Medical Center of NEA. Born in Monette, he lived most of his life in the Lake City area where he served as mayor for 14 years. He was an ordained deacon, a Baptist, a World War II Navy veteran and was retired form FMC in Jonesboro.

Survivors include his wife, Marcene Timms of the home; two sons, Steve Timms of Lake City and Steve Bowden of Bryant; five daughters, Diane Crews, Renee Timms, Beth Adams and Tammy Davis, all of Lake City, and Janet Mayland of Sherwood; a brother, Talmage Timms of Jonesboro; a sister, Carolyn Wiley of Jonesboro; 14 grandchidlren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Loyal and Florence Parker Timms, and a sister.

A graveside service was held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Bill Iglehart and Winfred Bridges officiating. Burial was under the direction of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers were Oliver Armstrong, Jimmy Bowman, Keith Roberts, Anthony Roberts, Garry Cobb and Charles Cobb.

Honorary pallbearers were Norval Spurlock, Ira Spurlock, Len Nall, Larry Nall, Donnie Hutchinson, Donald Davis, Larry Despain, Freddy Payne and Rolland Cobb.

The family requests that anyone wishing to leave a lasting memorial consider the First Baptist Church of Lake City.
