Joy Mae (Barrett) Thomas - Bono

Joy Mae Barrett Thomas, 68, of Bono, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001, at St. Bernards Medical Center. She worked in the cafeteria at Westside High School for six years, and at the Downtown Caf in Jonesboro many years. She was a member of Bono Church of Christ. She lived in the Bunney and Manila areas before moving to Bono in 1970.

She is survived by her husband, Leamon Thomas of the home; a son, Rickey Lynn Thomas of Bono; a daughter, Patricia Matheny of Jonesboro; three sisters, Norma Brooks of Holland, Mich., Faye Wright of Marked Tree, and Rita Turner of Mammoth Springs; three brothers, Owen Barrett of Monette, Jimmy Barrett of Black Oak, and Dale Barrett of Caraway; three grandchildren, Melissa Cureton, Landon Thomas and Greg Waddell; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Doyle E. and Alice Adams Barrett, three brothers and two sisters.

The funeral was held at 1 p.m. Monday in the Roller-Farmers Union Chapel in Jonesboro with Gary Cremeens and George Hulett officiating. Burial was in Trinity Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home in Jonesboro.

Active pallbearers were Robert Anderson, Leon Hamilton, Clay Inboden, Kim Inboden, Stacey Thomas and Michael Tolbert.

The family requests that anyone wishing to leave a lasting memorial consider the Bono Church of Christ or the Ben E. Owens Cancer Department at St. Bernards Medical Center.
