Betty M. Simmons - Jonesboro

Betty Moore Simmons, 72, of 2924 Woodsprings Road, Jonesboro, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, at her home. Born in Leachville, she had lived in Paragould before moving to Jonesboro where she lived most of her life. She was a 1964 graduate of Paragould High School and worked several years as purchasing agent for Craine Manufacturing Corporation of Jonesboro. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Jonesboro.

Survivors include three daughters, Jan Terrell of Little Rock, Lee Ann Clem and Monica Formon, both of Jonesboro; a son, Mike Simmons of Jonesboro; two stepsons, Steve Simmons of Dickson, Tenn., and Bill Simmons of Nashville, Tenn.; three sisters, Marie Kennett of Leachville, Jean Thompson of Tucson, Ariz., and Dorothy Brynjolfson of Apple Valley, Calif.; a brother, Alvia Moore of Hot Springs; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Simmons; her parents, Oscar and Ada Smith Moore, and two sisters, Lucille Pickens and Irene Mitchell.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Emerson Memorial Chapel in Jonesboro with Rev. Fred Haustein officiating. Burial was in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro in charge of arrangements.

Active pallbearers were Jimmy Reynolds, Johnny Terrell, Jeremy Terrell, Jimmy Terrell, Richard Blair and Harold Watson.
