Edna Jewel Gordon - Manila

Edna Jewel Gordon, 84, of Manila, widow of Jessie Gordon, died Monday, Sept. 17, 2001, at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home. Born Dec. 1, 1916 in Manila, she was the daughter of the late James and Amanda Baker. She was a lifelong Manila resident and a member of the First Baptist Church.

She is survived by a son, Harold Gordon, of Jasper; two brothers, George Baker of Risco, Mo., and Ralph Baker of Terre Haute, Ind.; two sisters, Naomi Riles of Canyon Lake, Texas, and Molley Johnson of Wynne; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Wanda Gail Countess.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church with Rev. William Piercy officiating. Burial was in the Manila Cemetery under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Manila.

Pallbearers were Jimmy Baker, Ronnie Baker, David Countess, Ricky Gordon, Gary Gordon and Ray Chumney.
