Mary Lou Hartsoe - Cardwell

Mary Lou Hartsoe, 74, of Cardwell, widow of Vernon Hartsoe, died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001, at Methodist Hospital North in Memphis. Born at Illmo, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Cliffton and Louise Harris and had been a Cardwell resident since 1946. She was a member of Cardwell First Baptist Church and had served as church pianist for more than 35 years. She was a graduate of Arkansas State University and was a retired English teacher with Senath-Hornersville High School.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tina and David Mayer, of Memphis; her granddaughter, Emily Ann Mayer, of Memphis; two brothers, Bob Harris of Dexter, Mo., and Charles Harris of Poplar Bluff, Mo., a sister, Liz Shawan, of Poplar Bluff.

The funeral was held 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Cardwell with Rev. Clyde Cook officiating. Burial was in the Cardwell Cemetery under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Leachville.

Pallbearers were Wayne Wheeler, Van Ray Hawkins, Doug Kemmett, Morris Alan Lambert, Frank Crail, Jr. and Grover Bruce Crail.

The family has requested anyone wanting to leave a lasting memorial consider the Cardwell Cemetery Fund.
