Arlis Ray Corter - Monette

Arlis Ray Corter, 68, of Monette, died Saturday, June 9, 2001, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born at Mountain View, he was the son of the late Robert and Sarah Williams Corter and had been a longtime Monette area resident. He was a Korean War veteran having served in the U.S. Army and was retired from Monette Implement Company in Monette.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Corter of the home; two daughters, Brenda Aycock and Patricia Cagle, both of Lake City; three sisters, Jessie Yates of Monette, Anna Slayton of Hardy, and Linda Young of Leachville; six grandchildren, Melanie "Lynn" Tucker, Michael Corter, Robert Corter, Vanessa Hofer, Kim Cagle, Miranda Denton; and four great-grandchildren, Jessica Tucker, Bradley Tucker, Mark Corter, Kerra Tucker.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Corter, and a brother, James Corter.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Rowe's Chapel Baptist Church near Caraway with Rev. Michael Tabor officiating. Burial was in the Monette Cemetery under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Leachville.

Active pallbearers were James Tucker, Jimmy Corter, Edward Young, Bobby Aycock, Bill Slayton and Jodie Brown. Honorary pallbearers were the Rowe's Chapel Men's Sunday School Class, Ray Anderson, Leroy Poe, Bob Goodman, L.C. Austin, Jim Sparkman, Leroy Whited, Roy Whited and Dan Whited.
