Lela LoBertie Avery - Etowah

Lela LoBertie "Bertie" Avery, 77, of 334 South Mississippi Road 103, died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. She was a member of the Church of God and a homemaker.

Survivors include three daughters, Catherine Elois Stokes of Etowah, Fred Mae Smith of Blytheville and Rita Faye Miller of Lepanto; four sons, Harvey James Avery of Lepanto, Carl Hardy Avery and Jimmy Wayne Avery, both of Blytheville, and Clifford Paul Avery of Ingleside, Texas; a sister, Rosie Meherg of Osceola; a half-sister, Jewel Milan of Kennett; two half-brothers, Charles Holmes of Paragould and Ernest Holmes of Kennett; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held Friday at Etowah Pentecostal Church of God with Huey Meherg officiating. Burial was in Garden Point Cemetery at Etowah under the direction of Murphy Funeral Home of Lepanto.

Pallbearers were Bobby Avery, Brad Avery, Marvin Stokes, Keith Stokes, Donny Miller and Jeff Avery.
