Lela Ester (Cox) Kendrick - Heber Springs

Lela Ester (Cox) Kendrick, 97, of Heber Springs, died May 14, 2001. She was born in Gurdon, Sept. 27, 1903. She formerly resided in North Little Rock. She was a member of Crosspoint Baptist Church.

Her many interests were making dolls and quilts and collecting antiques. The June 28, 2000, issue of Heber Springs' Sun-Times newspaper featured an article, "A Quilt for The President," in which Mrs. Kendrick presented a specially-made quilt to President Clinton.

She is survived by a son, Ralph Troy, six grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews including Mary Barnes, Virginia Barnes and William Barnes, all of Monette.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Kendrick and son, Harold Glen.

A graveside service was held at Edgewood Memorial Park with Rev. K. Alvin Pitt officiating.

Pallbearers were nephews, Jim Kendrick, Leon Young, Myron Cox, Nuel Cox, Harold Murchinson, and Kenneth Murchinson.
