Thomas Thornell - Black Oak

Thomas Thornell, 73, of Black Oak, died Monday, April 30, 2001, in Jonesboro. He retried from Nooter Boiler Company in St. Louis after 37 years and was a member of the boilermakers union. A member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, he lived in Black Oak for 12 years.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Thornell of the home; a daughter, Donna Askins of Converse, Texas; a son, Barry Thornell of Cincinnati, Ohio; three sisters, Myrtle Truetzchler of Cahokia, Ill., Atrell Turner of Lake City and Virginia Scott of St. Louis; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Gregg Funeral Home in Monette with Gary Earnhart and Kenny Qualls officiating. Burial was in the Monette Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Dennis Turner, Richard Thornell, Leonard Lamb, Randy Looney, Grant Thornell and Jimmy Turner.

Honorary pallbearers were Benny Golden, J.D. Coleman, Jim Turner and Gene Feltcher.
