Leachville Christmas Parade kicks off the season

Southworth's Polar Express won first place in the Leachville Parade.

Leachville Christmas parade kicked off the season with the annual parade held Monday, Nov. 26. A large crowd gathered for the event.

Richard and Nancy Sills were honored to be selected as the grand marshals for this year's parade.

The Leachville tradition continued with a parade followed by cookies and pictures with Santa at the Melody Theater.

Grand marshals for the Leachville Christmas Parade were Richard and Nancy Sills.

Parade coordinators were Moba Lee Miller and Paula Bowen. Among the participants were police, emergency vehicles, fire trucks, and rescue trucks from Leachville and several neighboring towns; antique and custom vehicles, motorcycles, ATVs, tractors, floats, Senator Dave Wallace, Representative Johnny Rye, Mayor Rodney Robertson, BIC Band, members of the Ridge Riders, walkers, horses, and more.

Winners in the float division were Southworth' Polar Express, first place; a cotton float by Jones Irrigation, second place; and Welcome to Whoville by Adams Land Co., third place.

The BIC Band won the walking award. Motorcycle winners were Junior Hancock, first place; Keith Cooper, second place; Bobby Webb, third place. In the Classic Car/truck div ision Martin Steed won first place and Larry Whitehead second place. The top three in the ATV, Vehicle or lawnmower division was April Macey, Harper Sipes and Makaley Macey

Santa took time after the parade to take pictures with the children at the Melody Theater in Leachville.
